Hypertension and Medicines

On May 15, 2012, Emily Prabhu and Asima Ali conducted another educational opportunity facilitated by the Seventh-day Adventist Health Centre. The two visiting pharmacists presented a lecture to update medical professionals in Buea on the latest research regarding hypertension and the most effective treatments. After a brief overview of hypertension, the various categories of blood pressure medications were discussed in-depth. Pre-test and post-tests were conducted and attendees were given a summary of the latest treatment recommendations to use when treating hypertensive patients.

The take home message for us all – stay healthy through lifestyle to reduce our risk of hypertension. If hypertension does develop, there are effective medications to keep the cardiovascular system healthy.
